Charges against one of the two men accused of theft and fraud from the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation’s Treaty Land Entitlement Fund have been dropped.
Charges against Melvin Napoleon Merasty were dropped on Tuesday, after it was reported that he had completed mediation.
Merasty was originally charged along with George Kevin Sewap. The two were accused of allegedly taking around $3.7 million via 1,500 cheques from the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation’s TLE fund.
Sewap will appear before court in August for trial regarding the charges.
