RCMP discover body of Redvers man in ditch near Carlyle

The RCMP is investigating after the body of a Redvers man was discovered in a roadside ditch near Carlyle.

On Thursday at approximately 1:30 p.m., Mounties from the Carlyle detachment were called to a grid road approximately 14 kilometres south of Carlyle to investigate a report of a vehicle on the side of the road.

There police found the body of a 33-year-old man submerged in shallow water.

The name of the deceased is not being released at the request of his family.

RCMP said an autopsy was completed Friday morning at the Regina General Hospital. Preliminary results indicate the death was a result of drowning.

Foul play is not suspected.

The Carlyle detachment is being assisted in the investigation by the RCMP Major Crimes Unit, the Yorkton Forensic Identification Section, the Regina RCMP General Investigations Section, the RCMP police service dog from Swift Current and the coroner’s office.

Redvers is approximately 250 kilometres southeast of Regina.
