Farewell/Awards Assembly
Kindergarten to Grade 5 awards will be the morning of Friday June 24th at 9:15 a.m. and the Grade 6-8 awards will be at 1:00p.m. Our senior students, who will be moving on, will receive special recognition at the end of the awards program and we will be hosting a tea for this special group and their parents from 2:15 – 3:00.
Report Cards
Report cards will be given out Thursday June 30th at 9:00 am. Students will then be dismissed and allowed to go home. Report cards cannot be given out earlier as teachers will still be evaluating progress. If you wish to have your report card mailed, a stamped, self-addressed envelope must be dropped off at the office. Unclaimed report cards will remain in the office and can be picked up when school starts in August.

Badge of Respect & Peace Awards
On May 2nd, five of our students were presented with certificates during the ceremonies at the Art Hauser Centre. We are very proud of the following five students:

Pre-Kindergarten Farewell
Farewell for Pre-K will be Wednesday June 22nd. There will be a snack and then a short program. Parents & family are all encouraged to attend.
This will be the last day for Pre-K students & it would be helpful to your little one if you could be here to assist them in gathering all their belongings to take home. Have a great summer!
Kindergarten to Grade 4 Play Day
All Kindergarten students will attend their play day on Thursday, June 16. This means that there will no class for Kindergarten on Friday, June 17.
Kindergarten – Final Day of School
The last day for Kindergarten students
Groups A & C: Thursday, June 23rd.
Group B: Friday, June 24nd

Fall Registration Day
All students will return to school Monday, August 29th at 8:55 am. This will be a full day of school – Day One.

Kindergarten Registration 2011-2012
If your child will be 5 years old before December 31st, 2011 – they are eligible for Kindergarten. Please come to the school to register now.
Pre-Kindergarten Registration 2011-2012
If your child will be 3 or 4 years old before December 31st, 2011 – they are eligible for Pre-Kindergarten. Bussing is available. Contact Queen Mary Community School at 763-3351.

Volunteer Recognition
Sincere “Thank You” to the volunteers that were recognized at our recent appreciation assembly.
It was a very special event. We sure do appreciate all of our many volunteers!
Parent Group Meeting
The Final Parent Group meeting for the year will be held on Tuesday, June 14th. Come out and join us for summertime fun. We will be making flavoured coffee and smoothies at QMCS Parent Room from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Childcare provided.

“AAA” Awards
Theme – “Focused on Fitness”
We had a very busy school schedule in May and because of this, our AAA Awards ceremony will be held on Tuesday, June 7 at 9:15 a.m. in the gym.
West Flat Community School Powwow
The West Flat Community School Pow Wow has been rescheduled to Wednesday, September 14.
Peer Support
The Peer Support group has had another busy year. Thank you to all the students for their hard work and dedication to the Peer Support group and QMCS. This year, our year end trip will take us to Waskesiu National Park to enjoy some fun in the sun. Watch for permission forms as they will be sent home soon.

Band News
Wow! The band year has quickly come to an end. Thank you to all students who made the commitment to practice and made the most of their band year.

Flag Design Contest
The West Flat Community Powwow Committee organized a flag design contest open to all students in Grades 5-12. Two QMCS students who submitted designs won top place in their grade. Congratulations to Bobbi Lee Halkett, 7/8S, and Antonio Morin, 5/6C on their winning entries.
