The Regina Pats have fired head coach Curtis Hunt and their top scout Todd Ripplinger.

Hunt had one year left on his contract after six years behind the bench.

“These decisions are always tough to make, especially when you are deal with two quality people like Curtis and Todd, however after a lengthy evaluation process we felt strongly that it was the right time to make a change.” Regina Pats General Manager Chad Lang explained in a release from the team,

“We need to go in a new direction with a fresh approach and philosophy as it relates to our head coach and the head scout positions. The entire Pats organization would like to thank Curtis and Todd for their hard work and service to this franchise and wish them all the best in the future.”

Hunt was head coach of the Pats through many disappointments over his time behind the bench. The team was able to win a division title in 2007/2008 season but failed to follow through on that success in the playoffs. The team then missed the playoffs over the last two seasons.

Todd Ripplinger has been with the Regina Pats for several years and took over the role of Director of Scouting in 1997. The team has had success in the draft as well as failure.

The team has already started the process of looking to fill both roles.
