A Prince Albert lawyer has been recognized for his expertise in mediation.

Barry Wilcox with the Wilcox Zuk Chovin Law Office, was one of three recent appointees to the Saskatchewan Human Rights Commission.

“I was very honoured to be approached and am very pleased to look at the job ahead,” said Wilcox. “I feel I have some great ideas that may assist with the human rights legislation.”

Wilcox was recommended by none other than Saskatchewan's Justice Minister, Don Morgan.

“I know that the commission is sort of looking at going in a new direction. In some respects with regards to an education aspect and teaching about the rights and responsibilities that they have being a citizen of this province and this country. I am really excited to see the direction that we are going to be heading,” said Wilcox.

The commission meets quarterly. Their next meeting is in September.

The other two appointees are lawyer Paul Favel and Jan Gitlin, a highly respected member of Saskatoon’s Jewish community.

“I'm pleased to welcome these three outstanding individuals to the Commission,” said Justice Minister Don Morgan.
“I am confident they will play a significant role to benefit the people of this province and I wish them all the best.”
