Roughriders appealing Craig Butler’s fine

The Canadian Football League came down on Wednesday with a fine for Saskatchewan Roughriders rookie safety Craig Butler. Butler was accused of an illegal hit against Montreal last week.

The league believes Butler went helmet first into Alouette receiver SJ Green's head in the second half.

Roughriders Head Coach Greg Marshall says the team is appealing the fine.

“First of all, I can't comment on that because it's in the appeals process. Second, you're not going to get me to say anything that will get me fined. Third, Craig Butler is a good kid and a good football player and he's going to keep playing hard and do things the right way.”
