Charges laid in Saskatchewan river deaths
More than a year after two men died tragically after being swept away in a Saskatchewan river, serious charges are being laid against a 66-year-old man.
It happened last July near Canora. Three men in a pickup truck attempted to cross the Whitesand River when the vehicle was pulled in. The driver managed to escape but the two others did not.
Constable Tania Abbott with the RCMP, said it took a while but charges are now being laid.
“There needed to be much information gathered to obtain the evidence needed to support a criminal code charge,” said Abbott.
