Rural Saskatchewan doctor shortage continues to grow

Aug 9, 2011 | 12:56 PM

Two physicians in the southeastern community are moving to Saskatoon forcing the closure of their clinic.

Dr. Vino Padayachee and his wife Dr. Di Naidu have been practicing in Estevan for more than 15 years.

But, Dr. Padayachee has taken a position with the Saskatchewan Medical Association so the husband and wife doctor duo are moving to Saskatoon.

Interim CEO of the Sun Country Health Region Marga Cugnet said it's not just their community presence that will be missed as it adds to a growing shortage of doctors in rural Saskatchewan.
