Brad Wall updates Prime Minister on Saskatchewan flooding

Jun 21, 2011 | 5:18 PM

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall has called off his trip to the western premier's meeting and has taken a call from the Prime Minister to update him on the province's flood situation.

Brad Wall stayed in Regina Tuesday to tour the province's flood command centre.

Wall also met with government staff travelling to Weyburn and Estevan by the busload to help with relief efforts.

Wall says he updated Prime Minister Stephen Harper over the phone before the two discussed what their respective governments can about the floods across Saskatchewan.

“He wanted an update and there are a few issues around PDAP (Provincial Disaster Assistance Program). PDAP is for helping people after an event but we were also talking about mitigation, hopefully deal with things prior to prevent damage from another event down the road,” said Wall.

Wall says they also talked about a possible increase in crop insurance payments similar to what was given last year. There may also be money available for farmers who aren’t in the program.
