Payton Izsak is Carlton Comprehensive High School Grade 9 student who played midfield and striker for the Senior A Carlton Crusaders girl soccer team.

Izsak has had a lot of positive influences in her soccer career which includes her dad Keith. He’s coached Payton and her two sisters Kalin and Taryn.

“I also learned a lot from my dad; sometimes it was a bit frustrating because I didn’t like him telling me what to do, but I knew he was only doing it for my best interest,” Payton said.

Her coach, Jennifer Ferguson, has had a big impact.

“She pushes me to do better every game and to go to my next level. I know it was only my first year on this team and she already made me feel like I had a huge influence and part while being on it,” Payton said.

Outside of the Carlton soccer season Payton plays for the PA Celtics, which provides her with an opportunity to keep growing as a player.

“I play for the PA Celtic team where we practice twice a week but that season is just about complete. So we are about to start PSL which is the summer soccer league where we will probably practice around four times a week,” said Payton.

Ferguson coaches Payton in soccer and basketball at Carlton, with nothing but praise for the teen’s athleticism.

“This year as a Grade 9 athlete Payton played senior girls soccer, basketball, ran in cross country, junior volleyball and is going to go in badminton and track and field.  Her best quality as an athlete is just how athletic she is and how she can dominate in multiple types of sports. I coached her soccer and basketball, and she really doesn’t know how good she is at either sport which is a good quality because she is humble. She also always has a feel where to be on the court and field to help her team out,” said Coach Ferguson.

Payton played for Team Saskatchewan in 2013 and hopes to keep on developing as a player and to play soccer at the next level after high school.

“After high school I hope to go to a university or a college where I can continue on playing soccer at whichever one would be happy to have me.” Payton said.

Next year Payton hopes she can continue growing as a player.
