Suspects in Regina teen’s murder may be tried separately
The boys charged with first-degree murder in the death of a Regina girl may be prosecuted separately.
Each boy made a court appearance by video on Wednesday morning at Provincial Court in Regina. They are charged in the murder of Hannah Leflar. The 16-year-old girl was found dead in a Regina home on Jan. 12.
The boys, who were both 16 when they were charged, can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
In court, one of the boy’s lawyers indicated he had concerns of the boys being prosecuted together. The Crown is looking at severing the cases. That boy’s case was put over to May 7 to determine if that would happen.
