Tisdale trailer park owner ‘caught in middle’

May 12, 2015 | 7:09 AM

An online campaign to demolish the trailer a Tisdale mother and her three children were found dead in last month is leaving one of the owners of Wicks Mobile Home Park reeling.

A petition posted on Change.org by Travis Lai, is calling on the mobile home park’s owner to remove and dispose of the trailer in which Latasha Gosling and her three children, Jenika, Landen and Janayah were found in on April 21. Their alleged killer was later found dead in a Prince Albert home.

By Monday evening, the petition had gathered 1,035 signatures, 465 shy of its goal of 1,500.

“We would like it removed because the constant reminder of the horrific event that happened here is making it very difficult to move past the loss and help the grieving process,” Lai wrote on the petition’s page. He said the cost to clean and prepare the trailer for rental would be more than to just dispose of it.

The owner of Wicks Mobile Home Park’s wife, who co-owns the park , asked not to be identified,  but said she isn’t sure what to do about the mobile home. She said there is a bank loan out on the trailer.

She said she feels as though she is “caught in the middle” of the events and she expressed her sadness about the tragedy itself.

Speaking via telephone on Monday evening, the woman said she feels very upset and she feels there is a lot of pressure on her. She said the mobile home itself is worth $20,000 to $25,000 and it would cost an additional $5,000 to remove it.

She questioned whether the response would be different if the tragedy took place in an apartment instead of a mobile home.

The woman said she felt as though she was “becoming responsible for someone else’s actions.”

Late Monday evening, Lai wrote that a meeting was now planned with one of the owners to “discuss some sort of meeting ground and see what we can do to support each other on what we believe to do with the trailer.”
