Astros down 2-1 to Selects in U18 provincials
The Prince Albert Astros will have some work to do on Sunday against the Saskatoon Selects in the 2015 Softball Saskatchewan U18 ‘A’ Boys Provincial Championships.
On Saturday in a triple-header at Prime Minister’s Park, the Astros fell behind 2-1 in a best-of-five series. They will have to beat the Selects in both Sunday games to win the provincials, starting on Sunday at 11 p.m. at Prime Minister’s Park.
The Astros started out strong as they beat the Selects 6-4. The Selects then won an absolute thriller 15-14 in the second game. They had an 8-0 lead after the first inning but the Astros were able to come back and make a game out of it before the Selects finished off strong.
Game three was a 12-0 blowout in favour of the Selects, who won by the mercy rule after five innings. The Selects scored 10 of their runs in the third inning alone.
