The Astros scored all four of their runs in the first three innings, down 5-4. They got the better of Home Run Force starting pitcher Clay Dolbear, scoring three earned runs in 1.1 innings. Home Run Force relief pitcher Cole Pavey settled things down for the Ontario side, giving up just one run in the final 5.2 innings, striking out six.

The Home Run Force added an insurance run in the sixth inning when Brandon Sadecky scored on a wild pitch.

After the game, tournament awards were handed out. The Astros had two players named to the All-Star team, shortstop Gille Lavoie and outfielder Hunter Boyer.

Astros 6 West Hants Nova Scotia Thunder 5

The Astros finished off their group stage games with a 5-2 record after beating the West Hants Nova Scotia Thunder 6-5 Saturday at Prime Minister’s Park.

The Astros led 3-2 after the first inning before the Thunder tied it in the third. Then in the top of the fourth inning, Astros big bopper Talon Thomas scored a two-RBI single with two outs to give the hosts a 5-3 lead.

The Astros extended their lead to 6-3 in the top of the fifth inning but the pesky Thunder answered again in the bottom of the fifth. They scored two runs to get back into the game at 6-5.

Astros reliever Cory Krawec shut the Thunder down in the final two and two third innings, including a three-up, three-down seventh inning for the save. As a result, Krawec was awarded with the player of the game award for Prince Albert.
