Vanstone says Raiders captaincy is his ‘biggest achievement’ in hockey
The Prince Albert Raiders players took a vote and came to a consensus, announcing Vanstone as their new team captain.
During a Wednesday press conference, the Raiders named Vanstone the 40th captain in franchise history. Reid Gardiner, Jesse Lees and Dalton Yorke have been named as Vanstone’s assistant captains.
“It’s a pretty surreal experience being named captain,” said Vanstone. “It’s a huge honour, a lot of responsibilities comes with it. It’s a big day for me personally. It’s probably my biggest achievement in my hockey career so far.
“It’s a big day for my family and a big day for the teammates that I have and they voted for me. It’s really a huge honour to have that ‘C’ on your jersey with the Raider crest.”
