Raiders’ win streak at six, following OT win in Regina
Jesse Lees converted a three way passing play with Vojtech Budik and Jordan Tkatch at 2:42 of overtime to give the Prince Albert Raiders a dramatic 2-1 win in Regina.
Lees may have provided the offensive heroics in a game that was scoreless for over 51-minutes of playing time, but the reason there were no goals until the third period was the outstanding performance of Raider rookie goalie Ian Scott.
The 16-year old leaving Monday for the World-Under-17 challenge made several great saves including two off Lane Zablocki on back door feeds. On one Scott got his arm on the shot and defenseman Hunter pulled the puck off the goal line after it hit the post following the save. The Calgary native also robbed Sam Steel and Jake Leschyshun during one of Regina’s two second period power plays.
Simon Stransky opened the scoring by burying a sharp angle shot into an open net finishing a three way third period power play passing play with Reid Gardiner and Austin Glover. The Pats tied the game with 1:06 remaining when with goalie Daniel Wapple on the bench for a 6th attacker, a Connor Hobbs point shot deflected off Gardiner and past Scott.
