SPCA to hold first annual Drool and Ghoul Halloween event

“It’s just a fun family friendly event to promote health and wellness and best practices and care for the animals,” he said. “It’s an open house; people can come in and take the opportunity to look at all of the animals that are dressed up and it gives them an opportunity to take a look at some of the animals that are available for adoption and if they are interested in adopting they can.”

Admission to the event will be by a suggested donation including $2 for children and $5 for adults. Morash said there is no limit to the amount that someone can donate and all proceeds raised from the event will go towards the care of the lost and abandoned animals that are currently at the shelter.

“We have a beautiful brand new shelter and the animals get top notch care so when you are donating to the SPCA you are helping to supplement the cost of the care for those animals. Each dog gets a… bed, a blanket, chew toys and it’s a wonderful facility, so they have a great temporary stay with us,” said Morash.

Some of the pets at the shelter will be dressed up for the event and pet owners are welcome to bring their own dressed up pets as well and take part in the best dressed Halloween costume contest for the pets.

“We have all kinds of really cool pet costumes for the cats and dogs,” said Morash. “It’s very cute. We have got pirates, we have got Dracula, we got Bat Man.”

Morash said another inspiration behind the event is to educate pet owners on the importance of micro chipping their pets. He mentioned that they will be providing information about the procedure for pet owners and taking reservations.

“It is the fastest most effective way to get your pet back and it can be help to keep them safe,” said Morash.

The SPCA’s Drool and Ghoul event will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday Oct. 30 and continue until about 7:30 p.m.

“This event is open to everybody and we are really excited to be hosting it,” said Morash.

“We thought it would be a really good event to offer so families could get out with their kids and do something positive for the community.”
