Melfort Ag Society Regional 4-H Beef Show & Sale Supports Charity

The 2019 Melfort Ag Society Regional 4-H Beef Show and Sale was held July 7 & 8, 2019.

Participating in the event this year are members 110 members and over 200 head of cattle from Beatty, Meskanaw-Ethelton, Three Lakes, Bar-West, Moose Range, Tisdale, and Kelvington 4-H Beef Clubs. Sunday held the Female show with Grand Champion Female being shown by Dallas Grona of Tisdale 4-H Beef Club.

Reserve Champion Female was shown by Justin Harcourt of Tisdale 4-H Beef Club.

On Monday evening 85 steers sold with an average of $3.25 per pound including the Champions and $3.22 per pound without the champions.

Justin Harcourt of the Tisdale 4-H Beef Club had Grand Champion Steer which sold for $4.50 per pound and was purchased by Quill Creek Farms.

Jayme Berting of the Bar West 4-H Beef Club had Reserve Grand Champion Steer which sold for $4.00 per pound and was purchased by Colony Chev GM.

The 2019 Charity Steer weighing 1382 lbs raised $24,483.50 with all proceeds going to STARS Air Ambulance Service of Saskatchewan.

The winner of the Charity Steer was Dr. Strydom from Melfort and it was donated back and purchased by Townside Enterprises and First Pass Floaters for $4.25 per pound.

The 2019 sponsors and buyers were extremely supportive in supporting the youth in the 4-H Beef program and greatly contributed to the success of the event.
