Second Ave. and 28th Street get fix
The city of Prince Albert is making a coordinated push to get a major project on Second Ave. W. done as quickly as possible. A number of aspects at the intersection of 28th St. W. are being addressed over a three-week period.
Last week ageing clay and iron pipes were replaced, and now efforts have moved above ground with a new concrete surface, median and curbs being created. A major element will also see the replacement of traffic lights.
“We’re replacing the existing traffic lights with a cantilever traffic light, allowing us to remove the median lights,” manager of capital projects, Nykol Miller, told paNOW at the start of the second week of work Monday. “We’re also able to remove three of the street lights at the intersection and put them on the cantilever poles.”
Miller said traffic lights at ground level were more susceptible to being hit in the winter time so they were being taken away.
