Prince Albert finds itself in an advantageous position when it comes to historical education.

The city’s four different museums offer great destinations for both residents and tourists.

“We’re on the way to the lake, so generally people will make an effort to stop by at least one of the museums on their way through,” Michelle Taylor, the manager and curator with the Prince Albert Historical Society.

“We have the Evolution of Education Museum, which is a one-room school house. We have the Rotary Museum of Police and Corrections, which talks about the correctional facilities and the police forces that have been in Prince Albert. The Diefenbaker House Museum, which of course is the former home of Prime Minster John Diefenbaker. Then we have then Historical Museum, which was the old fire hall and now tells general history,” Taylor said.

Taylor’s personal favourite is the Rotary Museum of Police and Corrections it’s importance in Prince Albert’s history.

“It’s a history that not a lot of people want to tackle, but it’s a very important part of P.A. Knowing that there are so many people who are employed by the correctional system and then because of the RCMP and city police,” she told paNOW.

Taylor added that patrons looking for lunch with a view, could also stop by the Historical Museum’s restaurant, Heejung’s House open Monday to Friday 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
