Out of 85 dealers across Canada, Prince Albert Alarm Systems was recognized this year as the number one SecurTek dealer in the country – a feat that recently garnered them the illustrious Presidents Award.

With the new ownership and management team of Jeff Stumpf, Regan Grimwood and Jason Whippler in place they have had no trouble securing their business as the go-to company for residential and commercial safety in the region.

“Our dedication is to our customers. We’re not that push it down your throat company. We make sure we talk to each and every customer to find out their needs, wants and expectations because there isn’t a cookie cutter alarm system that goes for everybody,” explained Stumpf.

Among the latest trends in the industry is home automation which essentially turns your phone into a remote for your home. Customers can remotely alarm and disarm from anywhere in the world. They can lock and unlock their doors, close the garage door, turn off the water, lights, cameras and control the temperature of their home.

“Being able to control the thermostat is huge, especially if you’re a cabin or cottage owner,” said Stumpf. “If you’re driving up from Saskatoon in the wintertime, you can turn on the heat before you even get to the lake.”

The technology is cutting edge. Sensors can take pictures of intruders when an alarm goes off. And doorbells now have video components so homeowners can see who is at the front door and talk to them. Stumpf said that’s actually come in handy for kids trying to reach their parents.

“One of our partners, www.alarm.com, is releasing what looks like a speaker, but it will actually be a camera with a button on it that sends a notification to mom and dad’s phone. So, parents will be able to speak to their kids and see them inside the home.”

Nowadays, Stumpf said there is no concern about burglars cutting outside wires to bypass security systems. Most will dial over the cell network if the phone line is cut. Prince Albert Alarm Systems can also set up their software to include internet IP capabilities which means a customer could have three modes of communication to the monitoring stations which are all supervised.

“So if one of those paths go down, the monitoring station knows about it and contacts the customer and essentially contacts us to make sure we get that customer fixed.”

SecurTek houses their own technical support team that is armed with extensive installation and technical support training acquired via the Canadian Security Association (CANASA) to troubleshoot remote panel access and programming. Their first level technical support is provided 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
