Downtown Prince Albert ready for annual street fair

Jun 4, 2016 | 6:00 AM

We are less than two weeks away from the 13th annual Prince Albert Downtown Street Fair.

On Saturday June 18 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the entirety of Central Ave. will be blocked off for the annual event.

Lori Bourne, event co-ordinator with the Prince Albert Downtown Business Improvement District (PADBID), said it’s going to be the biggest and best street fair yet.

“Number one, we have a wonderful raffle going on and it’s the ‘winner takes all’ raffle. We have over $8,000 worth of prizes from our local downtown businesses already,” she said.

Secondly, she said they have all their usual things like stage performances by dancers and bands, food and craft vendors, children’s bouncy castles, pony rides, face paintings and so much more.

“We feel we have a least 7,000 community members come downtown for that one day,” she said.

Bourne said something new this year is creating a food court for the food vendors on 11th St. E.

“We’re going to make sure we have tables and chairs set up in the little corner park which will help people when they get some food, they’ll have a place to sit,” she said.

Disney Princesses are back again this year which is a big draw for the kids.

Bourne said all the vendors will be spread across Central Ave.

“We’re going to have quite a variety [of vendors], from homemade jewelry, baking and we even have a tea-leaf reader coming. We’re really excited about how many vendors we have,” Bourne added.

The Farmers Market will be back for another year just outside of City Hall.

Food vendors include some old favorites like Moo Cow Ice Cream, Neptune’s Favourite Fish and Chips and Big O’s Food Truck.

New food vendors this year will include Taco Time and the Mad Cheddar Gourmet Gill Cheese Truck. The P.A. Asian Food Store will have a special barbecue available this year.
