Tri-Unity Challenge a family affair

Aug 13, 2016 | 5:00 PM

A little more than a month after flooding ravaged their communities, residents of Zenon Park, Arborfield and Carrot River came together to show their athletic prowess and community spirit.

The eighth annual Tri-Unity Challenge was held Saturday morning at Pasquia Regional Park, near Carrot River.

Over 100 participants were registered this year for the event which included a three km, five km, eight km and 18km. run/walk.

The runners ranged in age three to 71-years-old.

Profits generated from the annual event goes towards fitness related projects in the three communities, such as playgrounds and walking paths.

Many of the families who take part recruit siblings and friends from all over the province.

The Trew family accounted for 16 of the registrants this year.
