Former CLC president Georgetti on CFLPA bargaining committee in talks with CFL

Mar 7, 2019 | 4:14 PM

The CFL Players’ Association will have a key figure in its corner when it begins contract talks with the league next week.

The union’s bargaining committee will include senior adviser Ken Georgetti, who was named to that post in 2016.

Georgetti is a former president of the Canadian Labour Congress and has over 35 years of labour relations experience.

He was elected vice-president of the British Columbia Federation of Labour in 1984 and two years later became the organization’s youngest-ever president.

Georgetti is an Order of Canada recipient and was the longest serving president in CLC history.

The CFL and its players will begin formal negotations Monday and Tuesday in Toronto.

The present collective bargaining agreement is scheduled to expire May 15.
