Talk to your kids about safety this summer: P.A. Police
The Prince Albert Police Service is calling on parents, guardians and caregivers to talk to their kids about safety around strangers as we head into summer.
In a public advisory issued to the media, it said children should walk or ride on well-known routes and stay in well-lit public areas when out alone.
The police said they actively investigate all reports of suspicious incidents involving children, and kids should always report any activity that makes them feel uncomfortable, to a parent or trusted adult.
Sergeant Travis Willie said the advisory was not being put out because of any known threat. However, he said every year there were are a couple of isolated incidents where strangers approached children and even though there was no physical contact or threats they were deemed suspicious.
