Police make arrests, seize weapons

Prince Albert Police have made arrests in connection to two separate weapons-related incidents.

On Monday just before 3 p.m., patrol officers responded to the area of the Gateway Mall for a male that had threatened mall security with a machete and fled on foot.

Patrol officers flooded the area and located a male matching the description of the suspect at Third Ave. West and 14th St. West. The suspect was arrested without incident. Police located a machete on the arrested subject when searched.

A 27-year-old male from Montreal Lake is charged with assault with a weapon and breach of court order. The male made his first court appearance Tuesday.

Later the same day, at 11:35 p.m. patrol officers responded to the 1200 Block of 18 St. West for a complaint of a male in possession of a firearm. Officers were advised that the suspect had threatened the complainant with the firearm. Officers arrived, and arrested the male without incident. Officers seized a loaded a sawed-off shotgun.

A 29-year-old male from Regina is charged with numerous firearm related charges and breach of court order. The accused appeared in provincial court Tuesday.

The complainant knew the accused and police believe this was not a random act.
