Street Fair organizers report steady attendance despite rain

The organizers of the Prince Albert Downtown Street Fair are thanking the community for its support despite cool, wet weather Saturday that made a big impact on attendance compared to last year.
Carolyn Carleton with the P.A. Downtown Business Improvement District (PADBID) figured the turnout was reduced by about 50 per cent but there was still a steady attendance through the day. An estimated 18,000 usually attend the event.
“It was good to see so many people coming out because a lot of work went into it,” Carleton told paNOW, who noted it takes up to six months of planning and some vendors schedule their presence many months in advance so there’s little they can do if the weather is challenging. “Our sponsors: the City of Prince Albert, CIBC and the Northern Lights Community Development Corporation made it possible and we will continue to host this community event.”
Carleton said about a hundred of the record 120 vendors who registered for the day were in attendance. While the public appreciated the variety, she said the indoor spaces like the mall and museum had a good turnout as some people looked to spend more time out of the rain. And there was a late day surge.
