What dad means to me: a pre-schooler’s point of view

He’s been there to listen when we needed advice, taught us how to catch us a fish, and even scared away the monster from underneath the bed, but what is it about dad that makes him special?

As it just so happens local pre-schoolers in Prince Albert were working hard this past week creating memorable gifts for their dads, and were more than willing to share a few comments. At Humpty Dumpty Daycare, Riel, 6, said his dad was good at a lot of things but had one flaw.

“I play a lot of cool games with my dad but he doesn’t know how to play,” he said.

One young boy bragged his dad knew magic and could mysteriously take his thumb off, and re-attach it. Aahna, 5, said the best thing about her dad, was he could always find her.

“My daddy loves to play hide and seek,” she said.

It appears dad is no slouch in the kitchen either. One boy said his dad was a great cook because he could make spaghetti. Whatever their dad’s special talent was, the feeling was mutual among the panel, dad was a pretty cool guy, and deserved a big hug this Father’s Day.
