The Saskatchewan Down Syndrome Society held its ninth annual Fun Run event last weekend in Prince Albert and Regina, and managed to raise over $10,500.

There were a total of 60 families at the Prince Albert event outside PACI school. Society Board Chair Brittany Luddington told paNOW the money they raise stays in the province and is used in a variety of ways throughout the year.

“It will help replenish stock for our new parent baskets. We are hoping to host a workshop in the fall, some of the funds will help pay for that as well, and social events for our families and self advocates during the year,” she said.

At the Prince Albert location there was a mini carnival with Roger Boucher making balloon animals and performing a few magic tricks. Additional sponsors at the event included PACI school, TJ’s Pizza and Forbes Bros Ltd.

“We want to extend a huge thank you to our organizer Chelsey Honch and her team that spent hours putting the games together and making sure we had a great time,” Luddington said.
