Excitment in the air as dance school readies for recital

Jun 2, 2019 | 2:00 PM

Feet were moving at the E.A. Rawlinson Centre in Prince Albert on Sunday.

Thats as dress rehearsals took place before the Performing Arts Warehouse soon showcases their dance recital F.A.M.E. on June 7 and 8.

“F.A.M.E. has been the theme song since the Performing Arts Warehouse started 24-years-ago. F.A.M.E stands for ‘Forever Achieving Maintaining Excellence’ and it’s what we do,” said Jenna Trawin, the school’s director.

On Sunday, the school saw hundreds of feet hit the stage for a dress rehearsal ahead of this week’s performance.

There will be close to 300 kids performing over the two days.

The ages of the performer range from as young as three to just about out of high school at 17.

“The younger (kids) are so innocent and you can just see the excitement of being on stage for the first time but you also still see the excitement from our older dancers who have been on stage many times, everyone is just so excited to perform,” Trawin said.

She said being dancers, they don’t always get to perform for their families like a sports team would, so having an event like this is a great way to show off for family and friends.

There will be two performance on each day of the recital, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Each performance will have about 30 dance numbers.

Tickets are $17.50 for adults and $12.50 for kids under 12.
