Febee nabs suspects on the run

Apr 29, 2019 | 3:14 PM

It was an exciting weekend for Prince Albert Police Service canine Febee, as she was deployed to apprehend two suspects after an alleged hit and run incident involving a vehicle and pedestrian.

On Monday, just before 2 a.m., patrol officers responded to a parking lot in the 600 block of Marquis Road East. Officers were advised a female pedestrian was injured and a black truck fled the area.

Roughly 10 minutes later, officers observed a black truck driving at a high rate of speed in the 1400 block of 15 Street West, driving in a westbound direction. A traffic stop was attempted, however the truck failed to stop for police. Shortly after failing to stop, the vehicle struck a commercial building in the 1600 block of Sixth Avenue West, and the occupants fled on foot. The Police Canine Team apprehended two suspects.

Parkland Ambulance transported the 30-year-old female pedestrian to Victoria Hospital for treatment of serious but not life-threatening injuries. The two male suspects, one of which was a youth were also transported to hospital. No charges have been laid as of yet and police continue to investigate. The truck was reported to be stolen.
