Nachbaur suspended for next two games

Apr 13, 2019 | 5:05 PM

The Prince Albert Raiders will be without Justin Nachbaur for the remainder of the WHL Eastern Conference semi-final series against the Saskatoon Blades.

The league issued a two-game suspension to Nachbaur on Saturday for this hit on Dawson Davidson with 5:08 remaining in Friday’s 6-1 victory for the Raiders. He was issued a five-minute major for interference and a game misconduct.

Davidson needed to be helped off the ice by a trainer, who held a towel to Davidson’s face.

With the ban being two games, that means Nachbaur won’t be available for the rest of the series against the Blades—which can only last a maximum of two more games as the Raiders have a 3-2 lead after five games. The Blades can force a Game 7 if they win Sunday’s contest, 4 p.m. at the SaskTel Centre. If the Raiders win Game 6, Nachbaur would miss the opener of the WHL Eastern Conference Finals against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

This is Nachbaur’s fourth suspension since the 2017 preseason.
