Several weekend accidents lead to death and injuries

On Saturday night around 10:30 the Shellbrook RCMP were called to an accident involving three vehicles.

The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 3 and Highway 55.

An SUV carrying four people, another SUV carrying two people and a semi were all involved in the accident.

Shellbrook Fire and Ambulance Emergency services and STARS medical helicopter both responded to the scene.  

Five people were transported to hospital with undetermined injuries.

STARS transported one person with more serious injuries to Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.

An RCMP Traffic Analyst attended the scene.

The investigation is still ongoing.

One dead in northern Saskatchewan

Canoe Lake RCMP report on Sunday morning a rollover near Jans Bay resulted in the death of one man.

Officers were called to the scene around 7 a.m. on Sunday and when they arrived the man was pronounced dead on scene.

Other occupants in the vehicle were taken to hospital with various injuries, however all were released later that day.

RCMP are continuing to investigate the circumstances that caused the accident and the name of the deceased is not being released until RCMP are able to notify his family.

A bad weekend for drivers

Aside from these accidents Parkland Ambulance paramedics report responding to three other accidents in and around Prince Albert over the weekend.

On Friday paramedics were called to the Muskoday store intersection for a vehicle collision, where a 28-year-old man had been injured.

He was taken to Victoria Hospital with minor injuries.

On Saturday around 1 a.m. paramedics visited the Little Red Reserve for a call of a vehicle rollover.

A 36-year-old and 38-year-old man were both injured and taken to Victoria Hospital where they remain in good condition.

Later that day around 10:30 a.m. paramedics responded to an accident on Highway 302 just east of the city, where a vehicle had rolled into a slough.

An 18-year-old man received minor injuries in the incident and was taken to Victoria Hospital for further care.

And around 3 p.m. in the city paramedics were called to an accident on Second Avenue and 12th Street West for a collision.

A 71-year-old woman and 25-year-old woman both received minor injuries in the accident and were taken to Victoria Hospital for further care.

An officer with Prince Albert Police on scene said that drivers should be reminded to stay cautious and vigilant when driving, especially during peak traffic times.
