Regina hospital responds to Ebola scare
A quarantine was briefly set up at Regina’s Pasqua Hospital Tuesday night after a patient arrived showing flu-like symptoms similar to Ebola.
The Regina Qu’Appelle Health Region (RQHR) confirms that health workers responded to the patient as a suspected Ebola virus case. The patient came into the emergency room around 7 p.m. and was too sick to provide details on their travel history. RQHR says there was also a language barrier, making it difficult to communicate with the patient.
Although the emergency room wasn’t closed, other patients were directed to a different entrance. A section of the hospital was placed under quarantine.
The health region says it has confirmed that the patient does not have Ebola, rather the person is only suffering from the flu. The emergency room was reopened after about three hours.
