Eskimos profiting from Roughrider playoff game

Commonwealth Stadium is welcoming “horrible human beings” with open arms.

It seems the Edmonton Eskimos’ mid-summer radio promotion poking fun at Rider fans is all but forgotten. Eskimos President Len Rhodes says the Saskatchewan Roughriders are a great draw for a western semi-final. Even with Saturday’s loss to the Riders, Edmonton wins with ticket sales.

“The moment that Saskatchewan was confirmed as our opponent, ticket sales went very fast,” he said.

That’s both from fans calling from Saskatchewan and those who moved to Alberta but kept their true green colour.

“With Saskatchewan coming into the house, that’s good for everyone. It’s just fabulous to see fans that love the game of football to be celebrating,” said Rhodes.
