Eco-friendly projects green-lighted on First Nations

Nov 25, 2014 | 4:52 PM

Schools in Fond du Lac and Hatchet Lake, are installing new solar power systems.

This is made possible through funding secured from Aboriginal Affairs and Northern Development Canada’s ecoENERGY program.

The funding totals $150,000.

Bullfrog Power has also supplied funding for the project.

“Bullfrog Power is proud to work with off-grid First Nations communities in Saskatchewan and across the country to reduce their reliance on fossil fuels,” said Ron Seftel, Senior Vice – President of Operations at Bullfrog in a statement.

The two projects are designed to offset power costs at the schools.

These power generation projects are the First Nations Power Authority’s second and third strategic off-grid and renewable projects in the province.

The first SOAR project was tested in Swift Current.
