New membership card promotes buying locally in P.A.

Nov 29, 2014 | 12:00 PM

One local business owner is starting a new business that he hopes will help bring more interest back to the local businesses.

“It’s a local membership to highlight and promote locally owned and operated businesses, kind of focussed more on smaller businesses,” said Kevin Buyan, part-owner of Fringe Lash Lounge. “What we did was create a platform to give those businesses exposure and kind of create a community where it can be sustained and grown through locally owned and operated businesses.”

Buyan has been planning out a way for the past few years to help promote local companies. He said the Prince Albert VIP Membership card was the best way to do that.

The card would give the specific holder special access to member only deals and promotions.

Buyan already has nearly 20 businesses on board with 20 more still in discussions.

“Obviously right up to the date of the launch there might be more, and kind of in the future once we’re going there might be more as well,” said Buyan.

The launch date of the card and website is set for Monday Dec. 1.

So far the card is set with an annual membership fee, at $59 per year, but Buyan said they may look to expand that in the future.

The website has not gone live yet but you will be able to visit it here when it does on Monday.
