Roughrider fans keep rivalry alive for Grey Cup game

Nov 30, 2014 | 1:32 PM

The 102nd Grey Cup kicks off Sunday night, with the Calgary Stampeders facing the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Despite the lack of Green and White on the field, many Rider fans will be watching the game.

Chad Crites with the Press Box Sport Bar says they have a new 80-inch TV for Grey Cup but it won’t be like last year, when the Riders won the cup in Regina.

“We usually have quite a bit of Calgary fans whenever the Riders and Calgary play. They are the rival of the Riders so it should be a decent turnout.”

Rider fans at the Press Box said they will be keeping that rivalry alive on Sunday.

“I’m going to have to cheer for Hamilton, anybody but Calgary.” said Neil.

“I’m not a fan of Calgary. Cornish, I hate him. He’s terrible. Terrible attitude, makes it all about himself.” said Dakota.

But there are a few Rider fans that will be cheering if Calgary makes a touchdown.

“It’s a fairly good team. I usually cheer for the Roughriders but Calgary is the next best in the west,” said Nicko.

The Press Box is even picking a side by supporting the Tiger Cats and Kent Austin, who brought home the championship to the Riders in 2007.
