Car dragged by train in P.A.
Flashing lights and the train whistle at a train crossing in Prince Albert weren’t enough warning for a driver on slippery streets this weekend.
Just before 5 p.m. on Sunday, an SUV slowly slid into the path of an oncoming train “just due to icy winter conditions and a little bit of inattention,” according to police media liaison Sgt. Brandon Mudry.
“By the time the driver had observed the crossing lights and the trains on the tracks they’d hit their brakes and due to winter conditions slid into the train at slow speed. Once the vehicle was hooked onto the train it dragged it along with it and into the crossing post.”
The woman driver managed to get out and was on the phone by the time witness Tara Kennedy saw the aftermath from the nearby Taco Time, near the train crossing by 16th Street East and Second Avenue.
