Man arrested for taking gun on bus at Regina STC depot

People trying to head out of town were evacuated from their bus after a man was spotted with a gun in the waistband of his pants at the Regina STC Depot.

Police were called to the depot around 9:40 p.m. on Monday after someone saw the gun tucked into the man’s waistband. 

Two buses were unloaded and the man was searched. Officers found a handgun with three bullets, as well as a small amount of the drug hydromorphone.

Kevin Todd Coppens, 35, now faces a number of charges: unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a weapon, possession of a firearm with ammunition, two counts of possession of a firearm while under a prohibition order, possession of a firearm while knowing its prohibited, breaching probation and possession of a scheduled substance.
