Early Friday morning, the entranceways of stores around Prince Albert were full of eager shoppers rushing to get in line to snag the best Boxing Day deals.

Future Shop was one location that filled up quickly. More than 40 people were in line by 5:50 a.m. and the parking lot outside was full.

According to the store’s general manager, Robert Cormier, it had less people waiting in line for the store’s opening than usual.

“It [was] average, I think the colder weather kept a lot of the early folks out; usually we have about three or four hundred people in line before we open the doors at 6 (a.m.,) this morning we had about 200 people,” he said.

Some of the items people were looking to purchase included gaming systems such as the PS4 and home entertainment products with one man waiting to get a 65-inch TV.

“It seems a lot of the gaming consoles and stuff [it] going really well,” said Cormier.

Todd Baxtrom was browsing for deals at Future Shop, something he always does on Boxing Day.

“It’s supposed to be the best deals this time of year; I know that we’ve now run a Black Friday thing, but yeah, the best deals on electronics anyway this time of year,” he said.

Charlie Gareau had an xBox in his hands but he continued to skim the store for other discounts.

“Just got to go check out what’s around, what’s out and if you get something good you get something good,” he said. Boxing Day is “kick ass.”

Gareau got a huge smile from his other half when he said after Future Shop they were going shopping at the Payless shoe store just for her.

Avid Boxing Day shopper, Jasmine Sidhu said no matter what you’re looking to buy there is always a sale on Boxing Day.

“It’s the best day to buy everything,” she said. “Whoever wants to save some bucks … they can go to Future Shop, Sears, Walmart, everywhere, whatever they want to buy it’s a good day.”

Cody Fendley was on the hunt for the best furniture prices, but he didnt just stick to the large department stores he also checked out Real Buy Furniture and Mattress.

“Right now, I’m just looking at furniture because I’ve just moved into town, but [there have] been lots of deals on furniture,” he said.

There were also over a dozen cars outside of The Brick for its opening at 6 a.m.
