Jan 6, 2015 | 12:16 PM

After an investigation through the ministry of government relations, the cause of a fatal fire on the Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation has been identified.

Investigations show the accidental blaze on Dec. 29, 2014 was caused by a wood-burning stove.

Although two people escaped the home before it was completely engulfed, Donna Kay, 61, and Teegan Ahenakew, 10, were unable to get out.

Their remains were found at the site Dec. 31.
