The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region (PAPHR) has a new distinction.

It has been named one of Saskatchewan’s Top Employers by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers.

“We are very pleased to receive this recognition,” said Chief Executive Officer Cecile Hunt in a statement. “The hard work and dedication of more than 2,500 employees is why we are able to provide quality, safe health-care services for our patients, long-term care residents and community clients.”

The title of Saskatchewan’s Top Employers is given to employers that give “exceptional places to work” based on eight criteria.

The PAPHR beat out other workplaces in the same field because of its progressive and forward-thinking programs.

“Every day, we’re striving to be a leading innovator in developing initiatives that make us a progressive, caring workplace for our staff and the community we serve,” said PAPHR human resources vice-president Jamie Callahan in the statement.

According to statistics released by the PAPHR in October 2014, between 75 – 79 per cent of employees get “a sense of accomplishment” from their work and 53-61 per cent feel their “opinion counts” at work.
