Winter storm watch in Saskatchewan

Feb 13, 2015 | 6:23 AM

A winter storm watch has been issued for a good chunk of western, central and southern Saskatchewan including Saskatoon, Prince Albert, North Battleford, Regina and Moose Jaw.

Environment Canada says most areas can expect 10-15 centimetres or up to six inches of snow combined with wind starting Saturday morning.

“The extra wind and the blowing snow could combine to make some rather poor visibility and hazardous travel through the province,” Jim Slipec, meteorologist with Environment Canada, said.

Slipec said if you absolutely must travel, make sure to have an emergency kit in your car.

The system is still developing around the Grande Prairie, Alberta area and will be a slow-moving storm, so the communities stuck under it will get the most snow.
