Carlton wrestlers grappling for success
The Carlton Comprehensive High School wrestling team is getting ready to go to provincials Friday after nine wrestlers qualified for provincials at regionals last weekend in Warman.
Wrestlers Eden McPherson, Robbie Deeks got first place in their weight class, Samantha Paradis got second, Hayleigh Kunard, Josh Guthrie, and Reece Stewart got third, while Scott Gauthier, Marty Burns, and Nick Waditaka got fourth.
Coach Kevin Lavallee is expressing his pride in his team and wants them to continue their growth as wrestlers.
“I always said from the start of the year my goal for the team is to get better. I think we have some serious medal threats, but anything can happen at provincials. It’s a different ball game when you get there, yeah, you earn it but you’re going against some wrestlers you’ve never seen before and if you haven’t seen them before it’s hard to gauge how you’re going to do,” said Lavallee.
