Homan winless, world champion Jones undefeated at Players’ Championship
TORONTO — Ottawa’s Rachel Homan remained winless at the Players’ Championship, losing her final round-robin game 8-3 to Scotland’s Eve Muirhead in Friday’s evening draw.
Homan (0-5) had difficulty holding off her opponent right from the start as Muirhead opened with three points in the first end at Mattamy Athletic Centre. Muirhead added a deuce in the fifth to put the game out of reach.
Winnipeg’s Jennifer Jones, meanwhile, stayed undefeated by downing South Korea’s EunJung Kim 8-2 in the afternoon draw of the Grand Slam of Curling tournament. Jones, the Pool A leader and reigning world champion, was the only women’s skip to win all five of her round-robin games.
Muirhead (3-1) finished second in the pool above American Nina Roth (3-2) and Team Rocque (2-3) skipped by Edmonton’s Laura Crocker. Kim was 1-4 and Homan finished last.
