First appearance for second man charged in Troy Napope murder

Mar 15, 2016 | 11:57 AM

The second man charged in the murder of Troy Napope made his first appearance at Prince Albert Provincial Court Tuesday morning.

Skylar Patrick Bird appeared behind the glass, charged with first degree murder in connection to the Troy Napope murder.

He will next appear March 17 at Prince Albert Provincial Court.

Bird had been scheduled for a hearing that day on his previous arson and forcible confinement charges related to the case. The previous charges will be withdrawn, and his next appearance will deal with the new first degree murder charge.

The burned out husk of Napope’s car had been found north of Prince Albert, on Whitfield Rd.

Bird’s lawyer said he was still waiting for the Crown to send him a statement Bird had made, and expected to deal with the statement in court on March 17.

This is the second first degree murder charge in the Troy Napope case. Braidy Chase Vermette was charged and appeared at Prince Albert Provincial Court Monday March 14

Vermette will appear next on April 4 at 10 a.m. at Prince Albert Provincial Court.
