Details hazy but good first step, licensed marijuana producers say
TORONTO — The federal government’s proposed marijuana legislation lacks key details, such as rules governing advertising, distribution and even how much THC will be allowed in each product, licensed producers say.
Vic Neufeld, CEO of Aphria Inc., said he was hoping for greater clarity when the highly anticipated Cannabis Act was introduced Thursday.
“I think it’s a very good first beginning — little high level at this point in time and a lot of blanks to be filled in,” Neufeld said.
The legislation aims to legalize the recreational use of marijuana, a change that would have a profound impact on the nascent cannabis industry, which to this point has been limited to the medical sector.
