Emma Lake road completed after 3 years
After three years of construction, the access roads to the Emma Lake Recreation Site and Murray Point Campground are now complete.
Construction began on the 6.3-kilometre (km) access road from Highway 263 to the Okema Beach grid and the 0.7-km access road to the Murray Point subdivision and campground, in 2010. It was supposed to be completed in the fall of 2010, but wet weather has continuous pushed the date back.
“It’s been a long drawn out process and the unfortunate part of it was that there was so much rain in that three-year period the drainage issues were pretty severe,” said District of Lakeland Reeve Al Christensen.
He said it’s vital to have this road paved to make it safer and faster for residents and tourists travelling in the area.
