Predators award their standouts at banquet

Jul 5, 2016 | 9:29 PM

The Prince Albert Predators got the grill out and had their year-end awards banquet at the scenic and relaxing Kachur’s Country Club.

But if it was up to Predators head coach Darryl Frenette, he’d still be at the Kinsmen behind the bench leading his team to victory.

“I already miss it now,” Frenette said. “I wish it was still going but it’s not. It’s nice to put closure on it, say goodbye to everybody for the summer and leave on a positive note—no matter what.”

When Frenette presented the awards, he was sure to give a handful of honourable mentions. But for the Most Valuable Player Award, there was only one choice—Jagg Carlson, the jack of all trades.

Unfortunately, the Melfort product couldn’t make the trip into town for the ceremony, but that didn’t dampen the impact he had for his team this season.

“When I go to a game and look down at my list of players, if a person like Jagg Carlson is missing in my lineup, I know there’s going to be a hole there,” Frenette said. “He was very good on draws, he was very good along the walls, decent at loose balls, decent amount of pointsl—he played everything but goaltender. He helped the coaching staff and gave us a lot of feedback.”

Here’s the full list of awards.
